CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS
Children may not be developing as they should and adolescents may have problems making a healthy transition to maturity. Adolescent years can be fraught with problems. The word adolescence comes from the Latin adolescere meaning 'to grow into maturity' and this stage has been regarded as leading into adulthood, a transitional period of life between immaturity and maturity.
For example, peer group pressure, family disturbance within the home and sibling jealousy can all have an effect on a child's overall development, especially the sensitive child.
Handwriting develops steadily during primary school when the child is taught to write with a traditional hand, at a pace that suits his/her ability and temperament. Ability to copy model letters is expected of the average child but when he/she acquires some degree of skill he/she will no longer follow rigid models developing their own style of writing according to their individual character. An orderly and tidy-minded child strives to write as neatly as possible and this slows the speed of the writing. Another child, being less careful, will write more quickly and will move across the page with haste possibly producing somewhat distorted, clipped letter forms. The lazier child will give a poorer performance, marked by inaccurate or incomplete letters even when he is writing at a slow pace.
If you would like the handwriting of your child of adolescent analysed either for problems in the handwriting or for a general character assessment, save samples of handwriting over a period of time for comparison, and contact Margaret for an initial informal discussion as to how graphology can help.
